JESS X CHEN is a first generation Chinese-American film director, poet, and artist. She is a member of the Justseeds Artists Co-operative, and a facilitator of Artists Against Police Violence. Her work exposes narratives of colonial trauma, Asian-American diaspora and collective protest by connecting the violences between the female, queer and colored body and the body of the Earth. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, her art and films been featured in Asian American International Film Festival, The United Nations Human Rights Council, The Huffington Post, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Wing Luke Museum, and The New York Times HQ. Her poetry is published in Nepantla: A Journal For Queer Poets of Color. As a performance poet and educator, she has performed and lectured at TEDx Conferences, Netroots Nation, and on three national tours of spoken word poetry.
