After studying art in Madrid, Ubeda received a scholarship in 1953 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he would remain for the next two decades. In 1974, he returned to Spain where he became a professor of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. L’Oiseau bleu illustrates the ongoing influence of artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall.
