El Valle Nacional, en Oaxaca, fué uno de los sitios predilectos de Diaz para confinamiento. A esos infernales lugares eran llevados los indígenas que no estaban de acuerdo con el despojo de sus propiedades o los intelectuales que en alguna forma luchaban por la instauración en México el Mexico de la justicia social. Los prisioneros trabajaban de sol a sol, bajo las inclemencias de la Naturaleza y rodeados de Fuertes contingentes de tropas federales.

The National Valley in Oaxaca was one of Diaz’s preferred sites for confinement. The Indians who did not agree with the plundering of their property or the intellectuals who in some way fought for the establishment of social justice in Mexico, were taken to those infernal places. The prisoners worked from sunrise to sunset, under the conditions of nature, and surrounded by strong contingents of federal troops.
