The Indigenous Mexican People are stripped of their land. Print by Francisco Mora.

With the purpose of favoring the favorites of the regime headed by Porfirio Díaz, the indigenous communities were forced from their land, property that had legitimately belonged to them for a hundred years. In Sonora, for example, the Yaqui Tribe fought for over a quarter of a century in defense of their inheritance against federal forces that were superior in preparation as well as numbers. The same could be observed in Yucatán and in other places of the republic.
