The Book of Revelation, also known as the Apocalypse, is an important Christian text that narrates the prophetic vision of St. John, describing the fabulous and terrifying events that lead to the end of time. In one of John’s first visions, Christ appears with eyes like flames of fire, and from his mouth emerges a two-edged sword. He is surrounded by seven candlesticks representing the seven major Christian churches of the day, whose congregations are called upon to repent in preparation for the Second Coming of Christ. In his right hand, he holds seven stars representing the angels who carry out the major events of the Apocalypse.
