Born in Detroit, Remenick moved to South Philadelphia as a teenager. He was awarded a scholarship to Tyler School of Art at Temple University, where he studied before and after World War II. He next studied in New York and Massachusetts with Hans Hoffman, before attending the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1948-1949. He later served as a teacher and mentor there from 1977 until his retirement in 1996. Remenick’s intimate impressionistic paintings often recorded the rooftops, church steeples, street scenes, and waterways of Philadelphia, and particularly Manayunk.
