Jim Williams taught oil painting, print-making, art theory, and art history at La Salle University from 1985 until his retirement in 2013. In recent years, he has concentrated on his painting and has produced numerous landscapes and scenes of Philadelphia and the local environs. His work displays his unique interest in light, color and reflections.

Williams’ early study was in English literature. He went on to earn an M.F.A at the University of Delaware, with additional work at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) and at the Barnes Foundation.
