According to Greek mythology, the sun god Helios (Sol) daily draws the sun across the sky in his golden chariot. One day, his strong-willed son Phaeton borrows his vehicle. But Phaeton loses control of the horses, and the fiery chariot threatens the world below. The sky god Zeus (Jupiter) intervenes and strikes down the wayward youth, who plunges to his death.
