Born in a rural area of North Carolina, Watson studied at the Fleisher Art Memorial and PAFA. He has worked at the African American Museum in Philadelphia for many years, most recently as Exhibitions Manager and Artist in Residence. In 1983, Watson became a member of Recherché, a Philadelphia exhibition group dedicated to showing the diversity of work by African-American artists, inclusive of both representational and abstract art. This work is representative of Watson’s imagination and creativity in his abstract painterly rendering of a moonlit landscape awash with color.
