Warhol’s Myths portfolio of 1981 featured characters from American popular culture, such as Uncle Sam, Mickey Mouse, Superman and Santa Claus. Like Warhol’s Pop Art images of celebrities in the 1960s, this series also provoked ideas about the impermanence of fame.
