Campus History & Peale Family

Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827), painter, naturalist, and museum proprietor, is one of the best-known past residents of the land now occupied by La Salle University's campus. Street names in the surrounding neighborhood provide a trace of the land's history of ownership: Belfield Avenue, Wister Street, Logan Street, Lindley Avenue, and Fisher Avenue. For more info, see the Connelly Library's LibGuide on local history here: http://guides.lasalle.edu/c.php?g=159750&p=1046194
